a look inside a tiny home

called the "Tiny Retirement Home"

Built by professional builder, Dan Louche, (http://www.tinyhomebuilders.com) pictured above on the left, is a home he built for his retiring mother, (in the background holding the dog) a tiny retirement home where she will be able to sustain a healthy and productive life on a pension income. It will allow her to live out her final years with dignity and save taxpayers from having to support her in other social costs. It probably cost about $15,000 in materials to build, even less if you are frugal and recycle used materials.  About one third of what I paid for my RV and about one tenth the cost of a smaller used and not in great condition house in Ontario, if you are willing to spend a lifetime house poor.  It will cost well under $50 a month for all the electricity and heating she will ever consume.  It's small, designed on one level for the elderly, and she sleeps on a pull out couch.  For younger people, sleeping lofts are very common in tiny houses.

She has no mortgage or rent to pay, more disposable income, more discretionary spending and I'm sure is healthier and happier.  Anyone in Ontario working for lower wages should have the free choice to live a more free, healthy and sustainable life in a "right sized house for them"  if they wish, a house that is adequate to them and especially young adults just starting out who have lost hope in ever owning a home, and those heading towards retirement with little to no savings that must now rely on a meagre Canada pension, the pension that the Harper government has yet to commit to overhauling and instead has moved from age 65 to age 67 before you can hope to collect!

To help with ideas about what kind of tiny house you could build for yourself or purchase, or to get plans, I've created the following links to builders and designers of tiny homes.
